JUSTIN R. FARHANG

Like Cervantes’ Don Quixote, Justin began his higher education with a search for life’s meaning, answers to the deeper questions of existence, and the pursuit of noble virtues. He graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, with a minor in Religious Studies, and two years of Spanish language studies. After time tilting at windmills and discovering that life is a process, he turned his gaze to the law and the Aristotelian promise that all virtue is summed up in dealing justly.

Justin attended Southwestern Law School and graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 2009, having received the Paul W. Wildman Scholarship for Academic Achievement, a Public Interest Law Foundation Grant, and an Exceptional Achievement Award in Alternative Dispute Resolution. He served as a research assistant to the Justice Marshall F. McComb Professor of Law, Mr. Robert E. Lutz, and was a Senior Staff Writer (Politics) for Southwestern’s publication The Commentator.

Having learned that justice requires practice - that we become just by doing just acts, temperate by doing temperate acts, and brave by doing brave acts - he completed an internship with the Working People’s Law Center is Los Angeles, as well as an externship to the Hon. Andrew C. Kauffman of the Superior Cout of California, County of Los Angeles. Following admission to the California Bar, Justin served as an intern-attorney to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, Police Litigation Section, while also managing a solo practice.

Justin turned his attention to the safeguarding of California’s benefit delivery system known as workers’ compensation when he joined a prominent Southern California defense firm in 2010, becoming a Shareholder in 2015, and Managing Shareholder in 2019. After 13 years with the firm, he decided to take on new challenges by joining Cooper Brown APC as a Shareholder in 2023.

Justin represents a broad range of clients in workers’ compensation matters, with extensive experience in public entity and safety member claims having represented many municipalities, counties, and school districts, in addition to staffing agencies, health care systems, and national employers. Justin is a popular speaker on workers’ compensation issues, providing training on the AMA Guides, rating, presumption claims, and other topics. He is always available for customized training sessions for his clientele, or coffee and chat about life’s mysteries.
